 Nature Versus Concrete                polyptych

The pictures were taken from the ruins that were abandoned after the Second World War. The place has served as an entertainment and relaxation area for Syrjä estate, it consists of: a tower, a small kitchen room, an arched canopy,

a garden, an artificial pond, the area also has a well and a stone archway gate bridge. The area is currently unmaintained and the private area signs have disappeared, it has been overrun by undergrowth and erosion.

The concrete crumbles, the ruins dissolve into environment. There is also a mental state in the ruins, whose decadent mythical power compels to focus on detailed examination. Abstractions arise from the surface worn away by erosion and in angular shapes when nature meets man-made artificial stone, concrete. Documentation preserves the romantic character of the area when the area is used for new construction in the future.

Silver gelatin Photo series was exhibited at the Photografic Center Nykyaika, Tampere in 2003. At the Vastavirta Club, in Pispala, Tampere, 2003. The exhibition, a total of 130 photos, Nature Against Concrete, also included laser prints and a slide series,  which has been performed in Latvia at the Menuo Judorakis Festival 2003, as a background visual for the Temple Of Tiermes ensemble.
